Two timber homes and a church building were constructed in Hall 17 as part of a 4,000m2 group pavilion organised by the Association of Lower Saxony Carpenters and other wood industry associations.

The pavilion, a forum for building specialists, woodworking trades and property developers, featured two single-family homes, one built with a timber frame and the other based on a skeleton construction technique.

Both houses demonstrated various roofing, wall, ceiling and floor options, while the German Society for Timber Research and the Hildesheim University of Applied Sciences presented their latest research findings.

Young craftsmen built a 49x32ft wooden church on site, which afterwards was transported for use at the 2005 Catholic World Youth Day in Cologne.
