Competition at this year’s Bristol TTBS golf day could be fierce as the Welsh have accepted an official challenge from the English. In a major departure from previous tournaments, the September 13 George and the Dragon Challenge will be a Ryder Cup-style event between golfers from the two countries.

At a recent meeting in Bristol, Ian Attwood, managing director of International Plywood, issued the official challenge which was accepted by Welsh captain Nicky Ambrozejczyk of Robert Price. Players from the Taylor Maxwell-supported England team will compete against golfers representing the Premier Forest Products Welsh team.

The event will be held at the Bristol and Clifton Golf Club at Failand, near Bristol and the entry fee of £75 includes an 18-hole stableford competition, putting contest, team polo shirt, commemorative gifts and prizes, plus an after match presentation dinner.
