EWD describes its new Flying BandSaw system as revolutionary.
The technology for guiding bandsaw blades, it maintains, extends the blades’ life, results in better sawing accuracy and higher feed speeds.?
“This development paves the way for bandsaw lines to achieve equivalent performance to modern ?profiling and circular sawlines,
with the advantage of thin saw kerf irrespective of sawing ?heights,” said EWD.
?Instead of the usual pressure guides, the new technology uses two pairs of magnets to ensure true ?running of the blade.? One pair is installed just above and one below the lumber opening. Combined, they keep the blade central. The more it deviates to one side, the firmer the magnet which is furthest away pulls the saw back ?to the mid position.
This is achieved through a sophisticated control system which adjusts the magnetic field strength depending on the distance from the blade.
“Within milliseconds the position of the saw is analysed and the correct magnetic force calculated and adjustment made,” said EWD.
Tough work environment
It added that the system has been designed to work in the toughest work environment and under all climatic conditions. And at Ligna, visitors will be given the opportunity to have a hands-on trial.
Other new developments at the show will be the NKU 150 compact packaging lumber double arbor circular resaw and BKO 6 combination edger/gang circular saw.
The NKU 50 can hold up to 30 sawblades per saw arbor, each of which has up to 160kW of power. The machine is designed for processing short lumber 80cm and up. The arbors have individual electric height adjustment and maximum sawing height is 160mm and the compact design facilitates the use of small sawblades with a thin kerf.
The BKO 6 offers sawing heights up to 120mm and designed for used with EWD’s edger optimiser systems, OptimesLine and CombimesLine.
