Osmose’s FirePRO system has been classified as an “approved product” in the Wood Protection Association’s quality scheme for flame retardants.

FirePRO joins Arch Timber Protection’s Dricon flame retardant system as having approved product status.

Osmose FirePRO was awarded WPA approved product status as a humidity resistant (Type: HR) product with the ability to deliver Euroclass C or Euroclass B on plywood and solid timber covered in the scope of the WPA approval certificate.

To qualify for approved product status, manufacturers must be operating under ISO 9001 certification and submit detailed performance information about the product including durability and fire test and classification data.

The submitted data pack is then assessed and verified by an independent panel of experts appointed by WPA which includes leading fire research and testing organisation Exova Fire.

“It is vital that specifiers can select products with absolute confidence and the WPA flame retardant manual, approved product scheme and supplier listings are designed to give this confidence,” said WPA director Steve Young.

He said that while the WPA’s scheme was an independent verification of performance data, specifiers still needed to ensure that flame retardant treatment had appropriate fire classification test reports for specific applications.
