The fast growth of eucalyptus is making the species an attractive option for lumber.

Uruguay companies Cofusa and Urufor jointly exhibited at Ligna for the first time, showing their FSC-certified eucalyptus grandis lumber which is grown in plantations by Cofusa, harvested and then milled by Urufor.

Urufor’s Federico Ferres said the lumber can be used for diverse high-end applications, such as furniture, interior joinery and glulam.
