Two businesses operating in vastly different market sectors have both opted to improve their cutting facilities with Elcon vertical saws.

West Midlands timber supplier/hardware business Wharton and Cook replaced conventional sawing technology with a new Elcon 155D vertical panel saw to meet increased demand from customers requiring a board sizing service.

The machine was fitted into a compact workshop behind the store, which sells an estimated 23,000 products.

Machinery supplier Daltons said the application demonstrated the suitability of Elcon’s entry-level technology, especially where space was at a premium.

Meanwhile, East Sussex-based supplier of bathroom and kitchen installations for physically disabled people, Pressalit Care, invested in an Elcon 155DS with dust extraction equipment.

Pressalit, whose existing saw had been struggling to cope, uses the Elcon to cut wood-based materials and polypropylene and polycarbonate.

The Elcon 155DS features a 1550x3300m capacity and incorporates digital readouts and automatic moveable back frame, enabling panels to be cut in any position while remaining static.

The turnkey project saw Daltons supply the machine and organise transportation, as well as complete installation and commissioning.
