Steico UK managing director Andy Moore said the depleted I-joist and wood fibre board sample stocks at the company’s stand was a tangible sign of increased interest in both products this year.

He said Steico product distributor Travis Perkins had also reported much interest in the product at its own stand, with staff redirecting visitors over to Steico experts to learn more.

Wood fibre insulation boards used in renovation projects to make masonry walls more energy efficient were one of the top visitor interest points.

Mr Moore said Steico was trying to get more small builders to use I-joists and wood fibre insulation, also targeting several of its timber frame customers to offer the entire suite of Steico products – the Steico build system.

He said this year’s Ecobuild was clearly smaller in terms of exhibitor numbers and overall display space, but for Steico it performed better than last year.

"It’s got the eco feeling back at the show. And there are not too many timber companies here, so we are getting more footfall."
