A Stenner ST130 bandsaw, a Raimann KM310M multi-rip saw, a Hypermac LM631H six-head moulder, a Dimter Opticut S90XL, a Vanguard spindle moulder, an Optifeed handling system, two stacking and grading lines and an Air Plant CF56 cyclofilter extraction system have been installed at the company’s facility in Lewes, East Sussex, totalling around £300,000.

This has been coupled with the purchase of new forklift trucks, sideloaders, a 17-tonne truck and a pair of two-tonne lorries, with £100,000 invested in a new computer system.

EC Forest Products director Roger Cooper added that the company had also built a new sawmill and timber store, with climate control flooring, totalling £600,000 and that a further £250,000 would be spent on constructing new office space over the summer months.

The recovery from the fire in February 2006 has coincided with an overall company shift away from concentrating on timber merchants and satisfying the demands of end users, according to Mr Cooper.

This includes the launch of a new website, www.ecforestproducts.com, which details the products and services offered by the firm.
