A Jersey timber and builders merchant is making a “significant investment” in computer software to transform its stock control and point of sale operations.

Norman Ltd, which has two outlets on the island, has chosen Hungerford-based Kerridge Commercial Systems‘ K8 software solution following a successful trial of the product at its Iron Stores subsidiary.

K8 will be installed during September and is to benefit 100 additional users.

Nigel Queree, Normans’ IT director, said: “We are looking to use K8 as a catalyst for change. We have already seen at our Iron Stores subsidiary how K8 can help to bring improved stock control and increased accuracy at the point of sale.

“With more efficient stock control we can offer better customer service while maintaining tight control of our working capital.”

K8 includes sales order processing, with specific features for a timber and builders merchant, plus e-commerce and tool hire.

Mr Queree described e-commerce as an important opportunity for Normans, with the potential for time and cost savings.
