Laminate fabricator and panel component manufacturer Duncan Reeds has invested in a Holzma HPP11 high capacity beam saw and two Homag single-sided edgebanders with very different specifications.

The West Sussex-based company, which has a turnover of around £4.5m, supplies contract orders to large and medium-sized projects across the UK and Ireland.

Managing director Tony Atkins said architects and specifiers are particularly aware of long-term product performance and that fit-for-purpose parameters have tightened noticeably.

Therefore, one of the edgbanders has been specified with a PUR adhesive application system and magazine for bonding 20mm solid hardwood lippings. This enables the company to supply moisture resistant components for the washroom markets right through to external projects and specialised marine work.

The second edgebander has been specified with a hotmelt EVA glue tank and configured for the application of tapes including 3mm and 2mm PVC.

Both edgebanders are highly specified giving them a single pass capability.

The Holzma HPP11 beam saw is described as the “heart” of the factory. It benefits from a unique and patented mono-rail guidance system of the high speed saw carriage which ensures a perfect alignment between the scoring and main blade so that the cut is precisely keen and a perfect edge is presented to the edgebanders.
