James Donaldson & Sons Ltd has invested about £350,000 in a new treatment plant at its Leven site.

The plant, which uses the Osmose Celcure timber preservative system, will increase Donaldson’s treated timber capacity by 300% a year.

“We believe we have more capacity than anybody else in Scotland for treated timber,” said chairman and chief executive Neil Donaldson.

The treatment vessel is 10.8m long and has a 1m diameter, with a daily treating capacity of about 150m3.

The company has two other existing treatment plants.
