Swiftwood Sawmills has invested £90,000 in a DCS Nordfab Cyclofilter dust extraction system designed, supplied and installed by Dust Control Systems.

The decision to opt for a new extraction plant was made as part of Swiftwood’s expansion programme including rehousing the mill and workshops in a larger neighbouring building.

The new plant extracts dust from eight woodworking machines in the relocated mill. The Cyclofilter, which is suitable for large volumes of wood waste, can achieve filter efficiencies of 99.99974%.

An importer and distributor of prepared softwood, Swiftwood has a timber stockholding of around 9,000m3 and machines 19,000m3 of planed timber a year.

Mill manager Marcus Williams said: “The plant fully meets current and future legislation and gives us enough spare capacity to satisfy any evolving requirements in the future.”
