The investment coincided with a move to modern 20,000ft2 premises in Coatbridge, Lanarks, to meet demand from housebuilders, timber frame manufacturers, joiners and builders’ merchants.

The Record centre, supplied by SCM, has a 6m-long bed for machining long stair strings or component parts made in tandem using the double vacuum table.

Operator Craig Kelly said: “The CNC machining centre is a fantastic piece of kit, easy to use and set up, and compared with the old manual machines, produces components with an excellent finish and so accurate the minimum of labour is required when fixing stairs on site.”
