TTJ’s Wood Futures Conference this year focuses on the impact for timber of UK government policy on sustainable construction.

Entitled “2016 – Countdown to Zero”, the event, run in partnership with the Medite 2016 Forum takes as its start point the government’s decision that all new housing will have to be zero carbon in eight years’ time.

Experts from the UK and abroad will discuss what zero carbon building means and the kind of products and construction systems it involves.

Speakers will also look at the demands in terms of environmental performance servicing a zero carbon construction industry will place on the supply chain, with topics including carbon footprint reduction and product life cycle analysis.

“As the ultimate renewable construction material, the move to zero carbon building offers timber great potential opportunities,” said TTJ editor Mike Jeffree. “But to capitalise on this market revolution, we’ll need a clear understanding of the issues and effective strategies – this is where the conference should provide some useful pointers.”

The Wood Futures conference takes place on November 6 at the Royal Festival Hall in London. For details contact Natasha Denney on 020 8269 7833; e-mail: ndenney@wilmington.co.uk
