The Goldeneye 500 is Microtec’s smallest laser timber scanner to date.

Developed from the Goldeneye 700, the new model is designed for use by smaller window, door and joinery producers for cutting and breakdown optimisation in conjunction with cross-cuts.

It uses an X-ray-based multiple sensor system to record wood defects and measures raw density and knottiness.

The company sees good prospects in the UK. “We already have a good customer base there, including BSW and James Jones, and expect interest in the new machine,” said Ludwig Fleischhackl.

Microtec also demonstrated Goldeneye 900, a scanner for use in transversal feed sorting of green and dry wood.
