In a show of solidarity, the China National Forestry Machinery Association (CNFMA) has announced that it will only support one exhibition a year – WoodMac China – in China for the next 20 years.

The dramatic decision was reached following the agreement of the WoodMac China organiser China International Exhibition and Ligna organiser Deutsche-Messe AG to move the dates of WoodMac 2006 to June 27-30, 2006 and maintain the 2007 dates as March 20-23, 2007.

CNFMA members include China’s largest woodworking machienry producers and regional associations who are faced with the choice of many competing exhibitions every year.

CNFMA secretary-general Ma Quisheng said: “This has proved an inefficient use of marketing budgets for our members and confusion for buyers who don’t know which show to visit.”

He said the decision to unite in support of WoodMac China in Shaghai was a clear message to all industry in China and worldwide.

Mr Ma Quisheng said the goal was to make WoodMac the focus for the Chinese and international woodworking industry and equal to events such as Ligna Germany, Xylexpo Italy and IWF US.
