Thousands of tonnes of waste wood have been shifted by a Case WX170 wheeled excavator since its introduction at Reivers Reprocessing three months ago.

The Gateshead company took on the recently launched 17-tonne model to shift the timber into a shredder for reprocessing to wood chips.

The vehicle, supplied by Case main dealer Service Engines Ltd, features an electronic management system called Ecopower which constantly monitors each hydraulic circuit. The engine and hydraulic pump automatically responds to a change in load, making economic setting possible, including a fuel-saving ‘return to idle’ mode.

Another new feature is the climate-controlled cab, incorporating a large roof window for improved vertical visibility.
