The British Woodworking Federation has strengthened its technical services team with the appointment of Tom Rogers as technical officer.

Mr Rogers has a strong background in the industry, first in building, where he served an apprenticeship, and later as a carpenter and joiner with Luton Borough Council. He was also self-employed for 10 years, which the BWF regards as a benefit as a high percentage of its membership is small companies or sole traders. Before joining the BWF, Mr Rogers wwas a technical engineer with Trend Machinery.

His appointment will give technical manager John Hedgecock more time to devote to providing technical services direct to members and his work on standards committees.
