Richard Burbidge is taking its timber treatment in-house in response to year-on-year sales growth of its timber decking range.

The company is investing £250,000 in a 400m2 timber treatment plant at its Oswestry site.

The new plant, currently under construction, will use the Osmose water based treatment process.

Previously the company sourced pre-treated timber, but with demand for decking forecast to grow, Richard Burbidge decided to invest in its own facility.

Chairman and chief executive Richard Burbidge said: “We are confident in our ability to manufacture and carry out associated added value processes at Oswestry, rather than use external treatment facilities, thereby ensuring we maintain the quality standard of our decking range for the benefit of customers and end users.”
