Richard Burbidge was back at Interbuild for the first time in 10 years and was looking to make an impression on the specifier audience.

Burbidge, which supplies decorative timber products, had its newly-updated online stair design and planning software to promote, as well as its Fusion Commercial outdoor balustrade.

“We are effectively promoting the company for the first time to the specifier market,” said Burbidge’s strategic development manager Gary Carter. “We have always operated by putting product into the merchants, so this is a different way of doing things.”

The company’s stand featured samples of its Fusion Commercial outdoor balustrade, which combines timber rails and metal newels, with a choice of infill options.

They are aimed at beer gardens, outdoor public dining and seating areas, apartment balconies and raised domestic decks. Recent applications include an Indian restaurant and Folkestone Rugby Club.

Meanwhile, Burbidge’s updated Stairplanner software, launched at its sales conference in October, is designed to create stair plans, drawings and fully priced parts lists for an individual staircase project within 20min.

Burbidge’s targeting of the specification market has also seen the creation of a dedicated sales team and introduction of specialised products and support services.
