Timber treatment company Borax Europe Ltd has appointed Lancashire-based Wykamol Group as exclusive UK distributor for its timber preservative, Tim-bor Industrial.
The preservative is a water-based treatment containing borates, naturally occurring minerals that are safe for people and the environment but deadly for dry rot and other wood destroying organisms.
Tim-bor Industrial can be used in double vacuum and high-pressure plants and on seasoned or unseasoned timbers. In the UK it is approved for use as a wood preservative by the British Wood Preserving and Damp-proofing Association, has BBA certification, and conforms to BS and EN Codes of Practice.
Wykamol group director Dr Peter Fitzsimons said: “We believe that all sectors of the timber industry – from the forest, through sawmillers to timber fabricators – can benefit from the unique features and benefits of this product.
“Several treatment sites are already using Tim-bor Industrial and we expect the number to increase rapidly as the economic and safety benefits of borates become more widely recognised.”
