B&K Timber Structures (BKTS) drew attention to itself with a stand featuring two pairs of curved glulam beams.
The timber engineering company was exhibiting at Ecobuild for the first time, attracted by the positive comments it had heard from previous exhibitors.
“Whoever we spoke to they seemed to get an array of visitors – architects, specifiers and engineers,” said business development manager Wayne Yeomans.
“To reach this sort of audience it would normally take you weeks to get around,” he said.
The company was formed by B&K Steelwork Fabrications just over two years ago and already has some high-profile projects to its name, including Sainsbury’s eco store in Dartmouth and structures for Tesco and ASDA.
The company offers a complete service from design through to installation of glulam beams and cross-laminated beams and is often approached by clients wanting to achieve an economic structure and reduce their carbon footprint.
While BKTS had looked at its own cost base to ensure that projects went ahead, Mr Yeomans said business was generally very good.
“Enquiry levels have increased over the past three months. I don’t think we are feeling the pinch of the credit crunch as much as some people,” he said.
