But Biesse director Steve Bulmer admitted he was sorry to see the Woodmex name disappear and thought it would take time for the new “W” format to register with people.

Mr Bulmer said Biesse UK wanted to relaunch itself at W6 following several management changes in the business and the addition of new staff.

Five machines received their first UK showing, including the Rover C6, designed for nested-based manufacturing.

Another first was the Selco Twin Pusher EBTR beam saw, which allows two cutting positions (along length or cross-cut) on the same machine. A traditional main positioning pusher is mounted above the working table and a second independent pusher is located underneath the machine roller bed.

The technology is designed to meet the needs of businesses with widely diversified production and large numbers of small batches.
