Biesse‘s new Artech range represents a move to penetrate the craftsmen niche market and is the first time it has sold sanders and wall panel saws.

The company is hoping to capitalise on a sector potentially worth up to e220m.

The Artech range includes the Akron edegbander, an attempt to bridge the gap where the Ergho range finishes and the Biesse Edge starts.

Other new machinery being demonstrated on the company’s giant stand included the Skipper, a boring and dowelling machine for producing pairs of components, such as gabled ends for kitchen cabinets.

The SpaceSaver shrinkwrap machine, which takes three rolls of different widths, is able to change rolls in just 30 seconds, compared with the 10-15min needed for manual changeovers.

The Rover B CNC machining centre has been launched to fill the gap between the range’s entry level models and the top specification machines. Designed to be specified to customer requirements, it is fitted with an automatic waste conveyor.
