Woodworking machinery manufacturer Biesse has reached an agreement to purchase CNI‘s digital control production business for an estimated €1.91m (£1.17m). The payment will be paid in cash upon completion of the audit.

CNI, based in Emilia-Romagna in Italy,specialises in designing and producing digital controls (software and hardware) for machine tool automation.

The takeover will allow Biesse to boost its own production of high-precision components, including electronic controllers, and expand the technologies to new applications.

Biesse is the world’s fourth largest manufacturer of machinery and systems for working wood, glass and marble and has been listed on the Italian Stock Exchange since June 22, 2001.

The multi-national company has three production plants in Italy and two in Austria, and has a worldwide network of subsidiaries located in strategic markets.

CNI has 25 years’ experience in digital-control equipment for wood and glass machinery, shoe-making machines, packaging equipment, automated warehouse management and mechanical handling.
