Bayram Timber Ltd has installed a Stromab CT600 automatic programmable cross-cut saw as part of an expansion of its sawmilling capacity.
The saw, supplied by JJ Smith & Co, features a 6m infeed capacity and a blade that can cut within a range of +70 and -70 degrees, with a maximum cutting height of 160mm.
It also features vertical and horizontal clamping, which is sequenced with the pushing and cutting cycle to ensure accuracy. Programming is carried out through a touch-screen graphical inerface and it has the ability to transfer cutting lists directly to the machine from remote terminals via a USB key.
Hull-based Bayram said that the saw, which was installed around three months ago, had given it greater confidence in producing accurate products.
“We produce many different angled cuts for a wide variety of components and these can now be automatically produced with extreme confidence, which is great for both us and our customers,” said Bayram technical director Tony Clarke.
