Attendance at Russia’s Woodex/Lestehprodukzia woodworking technology exhibition increased by 16% to 18,000 visitors, with the show representing the full cycle of wood conversion for the first time.

Turnout from the largest exhibitor countries doubled from last year’s event – 68 companies exhibited from Germany and 56 from Italy. But the overall exhibition area was 10% smaller at 22,000m³.

Pavilions were booked by Austria, France, Spain and, for the first time, the Czech Republic. Homag presented its BMG 400 and 500 processing centres, while Felder showed its CNC Fromat4 ProfitH20 machining centre and Altendorf demonstrated its F45 Elmo IV and V panel saws.

Other companies attending included Biesse, Weinig, SCM and Springer.

This year the show was supported by Eumabois (the European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers).

“We met customers and new dealers,” said Erna Fuhr, general director of Altendorf (Moscow).

“During the exhibition we have negotiated contracts and we are going to issue invoices and assemble supplies from Germany.”

Organisers have decided to make the event biennial, with the show next being held on November 29-December 2, 2011.
