Five Atlas lorry-mounted cranes have been delivered to Alsford Timber as part of its ongoing investment programme.

The 100.1 and four 50.1 Atlas models are part of a major drive to modernise the firm’s 20-strong vehicle fleet and introduce mechanical handling.

Alsford managing director John Griffiths said: ‘Lorry-mounted loader cranes are the obvious way to speed and simplify deliveries on site and, of course, to boost our own productivity.

‘One properly trained operator can now do the work of two men.’

The firm, a supplier of timber and sheet materials, operates 18 depots in London and the south-east.
