A manufacturer of inkjet printing equipment is increasing its sales to the timber sector.

Since first supplying Severn Timber Products Ltd with a system to print timber lengths on end grain cross sections two years ago, Applied Technology Developments Ltd (ATD) now has about 10 customers in the industry.

ATD, based in Market Harborough, says the major benefit of its Impulse Technology Inkjet printing equipment to retailers is that the lengths of timber requested by customers can be selected easily and quickly.

Brian Pike, technical sales manager, said: ‘The benefit is to the yard as they do not have to measure the timber – they can simply see the size on the end. It’s fairly time-saving.’
