The company officially launched its Vacsol FR range to an industry audience this week at London’s Globe Theatre .

The new product has Vacsol preservative treatment as its “backbone”, with fire retardant additives blended in, and is specifically targeted at the critical area of reducing fire risk in multi-storey timber frame buildings during construction.

The product has been tested by Bodycote warringtonfire and accredited by its Warrington Certification arm under the Certifire scheme.

“In EN13238 SBI tests we found that that fire growth, smoke generation and heat release were all approximately halved in Vacsol FR treated timber,” said Dr Janet Murrell of warringtonfire. She added that it also significantly reduced surface spread of flame.

Arch dales director Dr Tony Kelly said that the product, which will add between 1-2% to the cost of a timber frame, will be on the market in August.
