A pressure-treated timber with a clear appearance has been developed by Arch Timber Protection as a viable option for those requiring high performance decorative timbers.

Arch believes that Tanalised Clear, using metal-free wood preservative Tanalith M, will offer a new choice for cladding and deck board applications as well as garden building components.

The product is designed to emphasise the natural colouration and appearance of timber, with Arch saying that the product will develop an attractive sun-brightened appearance over time.

Arch says the treatment was effective at preventing the development of non-destructive staining fungi, which cause black or grey patches on the surface of untreated timber, such as larch cladding.

Target species that can be treated for cladding include pine, spruce, larch, Douglas fir and western red cedar.

Tanalised Clear has been launched as part of Arch’s Year of Innovation 2010.
