Amazon Machine Solutions has won a contract to supply a Uniteam Wind five-axis CNC router to aircraft interiors manufacturer AIM Aviation.

Amazon, the machine solutions arm of Leicester-based Wadkin Group, will supply a Wind 2R/3418 twintable five-axis CNC router to Bournemouth-based AIM to make wood-based fixing jigs and the composite components themselves.

AIM intends to use the Wind and an existing Wadkin Omega CNC router to form the cornerstone of the company’s strategy to become the preferred supplier of interior furnishings for all aerospace original equipment manufacturers and airlines.

AIM production manager Andy Maxfield said the new machine would improve the company’s ability to design and make more sophisticated and dynamic interiors within airframes.

Installation and training are due to take place early in 2006.

The Uniteam Wind range of CNC routers are available from £60,000-250,000.
