An Altendorf F45 sliding table saw has survived two floods and partial dismantling since its installation at Essex fabricators Eric Wilson & Co Ltd.

After the floods and subsequent move from Braintree to new premises at Halstead, Mr Wilson was impressed the machine was still running parallel and square.

With a range of work, including fabrications for shopfitting, restaurants and the luxury boat industry, quality and accuracy are imperative for the firm.

Mr Wilson said the £12,000 Altendorf does not have to be re-set like his old panel saw and has additional bed length for cutting 12ft sheets.

He said its advantages were accuracy, durability, increased speed and better safety. ‘Our Altendorf is a really solid machine. I reckon it will last a lifetime.’
