H omag UK’s new £2m headquarters near Castle Donnington is taking shape.
The building, to be completed by the end of the year, is designed to take sales and service of panel processing and woodworking technology to a ‘new level’.
It will replace the current showroom in Darrington, West Yorkshire, and main office at High Wycombe, bringing everything on one site. The new location is accessible from the M1, A50, M6 and A42 and Homag UK managing director Kelvin Wilkins said: ‘The whole reason is to be more central. If you look at the map, all roads lead to Donnington.’
The 20,000ft² building will house a 6,000ft² showroom, double the current space, allowing for a greater range of machines to be displayed.
A demonstration and training facility plus an enlarged 3,000ft² spare parts divisions also feature.
A state-of-the-art customer care and support unit will have modem links to customers’ machines and a hi-tech video diagnostics modem facility, where customers can see the technicians.
Previously, the modem link was accessible only via Homag in Germany, causing some communication difficulties.
Mr Wilkins added: ‘Aftersales director Paul Newman and his team will have one of the best facilities in the country with which to offer a very high level of technical back-up and support.’
