Ecogate Ltd, the distributor of Ecogate energy-saving dust extraction technology, has appointed Airplants Dust Extraction Ltd as an authorised installer.
Airplants becomes the second major UK dust extraction specialist to partner Ecogate Ltd, and follows the appointment of DCS Ltd in October last year.
The Ecogate energy-saving extraction optimisation system, developed by California-based Ecogate Inc, has an extensive track record of successful applications at joinery and furniture manufacturers in the UK.
Ecogate employs a central controller, automatic motorised gates, remote machine sensors and variable speed technology.
When a woodworking machine is turned on, the sensor signals the controller to open the motorised gate of that particular machine to provide extraction and the controller determines the optimum fan speed. The result is an optimised system that uses energy only when required.
Ecogate Ltd says installing the system could slash electricity bills by up to 80% and it typically pays for itself in two years.
In most workshops, as little as 50% of machinery may be in operation at any given time, but dust extraction usually runs at full capacity.
"The outcome is an extraction system which is likely to be consuming more electricity than all the lights and all the machinery put together," said Ecogate.
As an authorised installer, Airplants will offer customers the Ecogate product range, including variable speed drives. It will also undertake energy-saving surveys, as well as full installation and commissioning of Ecogate systems.
"We’re very excited about the potential for the Ecogate system which fits perfectly with our existing range of dust and fume extraction products," said sales director Mick Johnson.
Turnkey installations are becoming a more important part of business. Airplants is seeing an increasing number of contracts where it supplies dust extraction equipment, biomass burners and all ancillary services and products.
