Ainsworth Lumber Corporation has ordered a second panel production line from specialist German machinery supplier Dieffenbacher.
The second line, which will produce oriented strand lumber and OSB panels at the company’s Grande Prairie works, will have a capacity of 1,500m3/day.
Equipment will feature a Conform forming station with a newly-designed continuous CPS press including a preheating station, which makes OSL production more economical as well as increasing OSB output. The 55m-long press will have increased specific pressure.
The new 8ft-wide line will be installed directly alongside an existing 10-year-old 12ft line.
Meanwhile, Dieffenbacher is to extend an OSB line at Kronospan Jihlava in the Czech Republic. The extension, to be completed next summer, will boost capacity to 500,000m3 per year.
