An Accoya-faced laminated redwood window component, which could shave up to 30% off the cost of a comparable solid modified wood component, was the big news on International Timber’s stand.

The product, formally launched next January, will be available for trial and purchase from this month.

“We’ve done a lot of work with customers and the response has been fantastic,” said Steve Rogers, product manager at International Timber.

“It offers significant cost reductions on solid Accoya,” he added and was only marginally (around 8%) more expensive than sapele.

The product features Accoya on the external elevation, with redwood lamellas on the interior.

The company was also serving notice of its position as the UK’s largest distributor of sustainable timber solutions, after the incorporation of Jewson Internal Timber Supply into International Timber. It said its annual timber volumes could now fill the Ricoh Arena twice from top to bottom.
