Whether you were a manufacturer of windows, timber frame buildings, log cabins, stair parts or even beehives, JJ Smith claimed to have a technological solution at W10 to meet your manufacturing needs.

JJ Smith managing director Martin Smith told TTJ that machinery sales in the joinery market were proving resilient, while timber frame technology was having a tougher time because of the current weaker timber frame market.

The Italian-made Saomad Titanium window and door production centre demonstrated manufacture of components for a complete window.

JJ Smith was also showing its Austrian-made Auer four-way notching machine which machines the joint used in log cabin-style buildings.

Mr Smith said demand for UK-made log cabin machinery was growing as customers demanded more flexibility and variation in the product, rather than accept a standard imported cabin.

The trend away from traditional stair designs into a more contemporary look, with the resulting need for new specialist technology, was reflected in the presence of an Intorex lathe on stand.
