A Rye QM CNC router is helping Luhrs Marine to build luxury yachts at its new factory.

Luhrs, a member of the worldwide Hunter Marine Group, installed the £70,000 machine at its new 16-acre site, a former naval air station, in Portland.

The first 29ft Legend 290 yacht was manufactured there in February and production is growing fast.

The machine has a seven-station automatic tool changer and is used to machine components in marine ply, teak-veneered plywood and meranti for the deck and interiors of boats.

It was chosen for its record of back-up and maintenance.
