The company already operated Weinig machining technology and had experience in dealing with the company’s Abingdon base. Weinig bought Holz-Her in 2010, with the latter now operating as an independent company within the Weinig group.
Urban Front directors Nabil and Elizabeth Assaf said the Pro-Master 7017 CNC machining centre had exceeded their expectations in how it coped with dense hardwoods on up to 90mm-thick doors.
"Its high speed using design-to-manufacture software has resulted in faster and leaner lead times", the Assafs said.
Also important was the machine’s ability to machine absolutely square internal corners for vision panels, as well as the flexibility of the software, which had motivated the operator "who enjoys working the machine".
Only solid hardwoods – no engineered or veneered timber – are used for Urban Front’s internal and external door products. Floor-to-ceiling door options and high security features and locks are also part of the company’s offering. Its products have been installed in the likes of the British Consulate in New York.
The Holz-Her completes drilling, sawing, cutting and grooving operations and its features include high-precision linear guides and a powerful drive and transmission technology.
