"The old website looked dated, was not visually stimulating and did not do enough to promote members," said David Himmons, chairman of the TRA publicity committee.

"But we wanted to keep its Google position very high, as well as the number of site visitors."

The website, an £8,000 investment, features a Find a Member feature.

Members can add their own content and case studies and drive business to their own websites.

The interactive home page features members’ logos scrolling continually across the bottom in a random order. Users can click on a logo to go through to the company’s website.

A large range of technical downloads is available, along with a new section dedicated to metal-web joists.

"We are very pleased with the high speed that pages open," said James Morgan, committee member.

TRA members can usefully access committee minutes on the website.

Mr Morgan encouraged members to make use of the new website.

"If you take the time to find a nice image of a project, it could take just 10 minutes of your day, then you can have a big impact on how much your company is profiled on what is a very interesting website."

The website, www.tra.org.uk, will go live in the coming weeks.
