Mr Putin told a State Council meeting in Moscow that the money would be spent on more than 118 forestry projects.
The president also wants to see smaller-sized wood-processing businesses receive investment, not just the large enterprises.
A further priority area highlighted at the meeting was cracking down on the country’s illegal logging problem.
