Plywood producer Krono-Wood plans to build a 16km section of wide gauge rail track in Poland to improve its logistics with eastern markets.

The track would connect the Mielec special economic zone with the main railway route, LHS.

Krono-Wood, which would be joined by other companies in the venture, said trucks are currently used to transport goods – but this is risky, time consuming and expensive.

Wide gauge rail track is used by the former Soviet states.
