Leeds-based Everbuild’s business includes a wood treatments division, comprising canned wood preservative, decking treatments, wood stain and varnish, plus hardwood furniture oil.
Brands include Creocote and Fence Mate, while Everbuild also supplies a range of flooring trims.
Everbuild, reputed to be the UK’s largest independent manufactuer of sealants, adhesives and construction chemicals, will operate as a subsidiary of Sika UK and will be managed under the existing management team.
Welwyn Garden-based Sika UK said the acquisition would strengthen its position in the construction chemical market and DIY channels.
Sika, which has its global base in Switzerland, has several products for the wood sector, including wood floor bonding solutions (elastic adhesives) and aesthetic solutions for wood floors.
The latter involves caulking, which has applications in the marine industry, but also recently in the construction industry due to the rise in popularity of timber floors.
