The company said it would now concentrate the entire focus of the group under one brand to make its strengths more visible.
It said market demand for a single source full service provider influenced its decision.

"Our goal is to present the entire performance and service portfolio of the Mayr-Melnhof group under a strong brand – MM Wood – to our customers," it said.

Its mill locations at Gaishorn and Reuthe in Austria are also dropping Kaufmann from their names, as well as a German facility.

When Mayr-Melnhof acquired the Stallinger/Kaufmann Group in 2008 it said its turnover would increase to more than €600m and it would become one of Europe’s largest sawmillers.

Its products include sawn and planed timber, glulam, cross-laminated timber, laminated wood ceiling and concrete formwork products.
