The new branch, Brooks’ seventh in the Republic of Ireland, opened last week in Glasnevin, north Dublin, servicing local DIY and the home improvement trade in Cabra, Finglas and Glasnevin, as well as new housebuilding customers in north Dublin city and the county.

The branch is situated on part of the site of Dublin Plywood & Veneer (DPV) Ltd, which Brooks’ owner Premier Forest Products acquired in June.

“The decision to open a new branch was made a lot easier and financially viable given that it can operate from the same site as DPV,” said Terry Edgell, Premier’s acquisition and integration director.

“The product crossover among customers will provide the new branch with a solid sales base whilst further developing the local retail and trade business.”

The DPV site is extensive in size and provided additional warehouse capacity for Brooks. Mr Edgell said a significant capital investment running into seven figures had been made in the site.

Premier acquired Brooks, Ireland’s oldest timber company, in May 2012 after the firm went into administration and administrators had sold off its heating and plumbing business.
