The Building and Living division, which comprises sawn timber, cross-laminated timber, wood components and pellets, reported EBIT of €56m for the period (2012: €22m), while Q3 EBIT was €24m, up from just €1m a year ago.

The division’s sales were up 14.1% to €1.4bn in January-September, with Q3 also up 14.1% to €460m (2012: €403m). Deliveries grew 3.3% to 3.57 million m3 for the nine months.

The growth was 5.5% to 1.15 million m3 in Q3. Stora Enso said sales prices in local currencies were clearly higher than a year ago.

The company said the Building and Living division was experiencing a continued cost-driven turnaround.
