Campaign spokesperson Alastair Kerr, director-general of the Wood Panel Industries Federation, said OSB’s use had evolved over the years and was now fashionable to use as a decorative surface, aside from its core roofing, flooring, decking and boarding applications.

Such decorative uses include as a backdrop for shop and restaurant design. Mr Kerr said its use at consumer and trade exhibitions nationwide had also been on the rise.

After targeting builders merchants during 2013, the campaign will use 2014 to widen its efforts to engage architects and designers through case studies and a partnership programme to be announced soon.
