TradeIn, which is running in all Wickes stores until March 25, enables customers to recycle any tool in return for a discount.
The event, the first of its kind for the retailer, offers shoppers the opportunity to hand in their old tools for recycling in exchange for a 20% discount off any hand tool, hand power tool or hand power tool accessory in store. Customers can even trade in a smaller tool in exchange for a discount on a big-ticket item.
The old tools will be donated to WorkAid, a charity that collects and refurbishes unwanted tools for vocational programmes in Africa and the UK.
