The new facility, which has part of its capacity dedicated to producing a range of planed softwood products for Travis Perkins, has created 32 jobs so far with the potential of more to follow in the summer.
About 50,000m3 of wood will be processed annually through SCA Melton, with products also going to joinery production customers.
Timber supplies for the plant come from SCA Timber Supply Ltd’s importing hub on the King George Dock at Hull.
SCA is devoting more wood resources and product supply to the British builders merchant sector.
